If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader ~ click here to download ~ Buy a Brick ~ Macktown Heritage Campaign Pave the way to the new Macktown Education Center Over a hundred and fifty years ago a young man made his way to the Rock River Valley from the East. Educated and adventurous, Stephen Mack explored this area and traded with the numerous Native Americans of the region. During that time, he took a young, caring Hononegah as his wife and created a settlement, called "Pekatonic," located at the confluence of the Pecatonica and Rock Rivers in what is now known as the Macktown Forest Preserve. Now, you can help rebuild that settlement! Buying a commemorative Heritage Brick will help support this very important project. Construction of the Education Center walkway and Heritage Circle began in Spring, 2005. Heritage Bricks are available in three sizes to include individuals, families, organizations and corporations. Memorials are welcome. You can purchase as many bricks as you like, just fill out the order form and put your name down in history.
